Why it is worth it
Four reasons maintenance pays for itself
It catches the cheap failures first. A weak capacitor, a fouled flame sensor or a drifting gas pressure is inexpensive to correct on a scheduled visit and expensive when it strands you on the coldest night of the year.
It stops efficiency drift. Systems lose performance gradually — a slightly low charge, a loading coil, rising static pressure. None of it announces itself; all of it shows up on your bill. Measured maintenance catches drift while it is still small.
It protects your warranty. Most manufacturers require documented annual maintenance for parts coverage to stand. We keep that record on file, so a warranty claim is a paperwork exercise rather than an argument.
It gets you onto the schedule. When a cold snap hits, the schedule fills. Members go ahead of non-members, and higher tiers go ahead of lower ones.
There is a specific reason maintenance matters more here than in the valley: outdoor coils in the foothills foul quickly with pine and oak litter, filters load fast during smoke season, and a long heating season simply puts more run hours on equipment. The same system in Nevada County works harder than it would fifty miles west.

Questions
Membership questions
Maintenance & the Comfort Club
How often should HVAC equipment be serviced?
Once a year at minimum for a single-season system, and twice a year for a system that both heats and cools — heating serviced in the autumn, cooling in the spring. In this region there is an additional reason to stay on schedule: outdoor coils foul quickly with pine and oak litter, and filters load fast during smoke events. Manufacturers also require documented annual maintenance to keep most parts warranties valid.
What does the Foothill Comfort Club include?
Membership includes scheduled precision tune-ups, a full multi-point inspection with written findings, filter service, priority scheduling ahead of non-members, and a discount on repairs. Higher tiers add a second seasonal visit, larger repair discounts, premium filtration, and coverage for hydronic and indoor-air-quality equipment. Tiers are Essential, Preferred and Premier — see the membership page for the full comparison and current pricing.
Is maintenance actually worth paying for?
It is the least expensive thing you can do for a system. Maintenance catches the failures that are cheap to fix before they become the failures that are not, keeps efficiency from drifting down over the years, satisfies the documentation manufacturers require for warranty claims, and gets you onto the schedule faster when something does go wrong in the middle of a cold snap.
Do you service equipment you did not install?
Yes — including systems installed by other contractors, and including equipment types many contractors in the region do not carry, such as hydronic and radiant systems and Mitsubishi inverter equipment. Give us the make and model numbers and we will tell you exactly what we can do.
