Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to keeping this website usable for everyone, and how to tell us when it falls short.

Last updated

The short version

  • We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.
  • We design and build it to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
  • If something doesn’t work for you, email info@fas-mech.com or call (530) 212-0057. We will respond within 5 business days and help you get what you need another way in the meantime.

Our commitment

Foothill Air Systems is committed to making fas-mech.com (the “Site”) accessible to people with disabilities and to giving everyone equal access to information about our heating, cooling and indoor-air services. We treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act and California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act.

Our standard

Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor and cognitive disabilities.

What we have done

  • Structure. Pages use semantic HTML landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) and a logical, ordered heading structure, so screen-reader users can move around a page efficiently.
  • Skip link. A “Skip to main content” link is the first item on every page, letting keyboard users bypass the navigation.
  • Keyboard access. Navigation menus, links, buttons, forms and the cookie notice can be reached and operated with a keyboard.
  • Visible focus. Interactive elements show a visible focus indicator when you move to them with a keyboard.
  • Text alternatives. Images that convey information have descriptive alternative text, and purely decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Color and contrast. Text and interface colors were chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios, and we do not rely on color alone to convey meaning.
  • Forms. Form fields have visible labels, required fields are identified, and errors are described in text.
  • Reduced motion. Animation is subtle by default and is turned off for visitors whose device is set to reduce motion.
  • Touch and zoom. Buttons and controls are sized for comfortable use on touch screens, and pages reflow for small screens and zoom without losing content.

How we check

We check new pages and changes for accessibility, including keyboard-only navigation, screen-reader labels, color contrast and zoom, and we fix issues we find. We have not yet had the Site independently audited. The Site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge) and common assistive technologies, such as the VoiceOver and NVDA screen readers and built-in browser zoom.

Known limitations and third-party content

Despite our efforts, some parts of the Site may not yet fully meet our standard. We are aware of the following:

  • Spam protection. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA. It usually works invisibly, but if it presents a challenge you cannot complete, please call or email us instead.
  • Financing applications are completed on our third-party lender’s online application site, which we do not control.
  • Social media and other linked sites, such as Facebook, Instagram and manufacturer websites, are operated by others and have their own accessibility practices.
  • Form messages. Form error and confirmation messages may not be announced automatically by some screen readers. We are working on it; if you have trouble, please call or email us and we will help.
  • Forms require JavaScript. If our forms do not work with your setup, you can reach us by phone or email for anything a form does.
  • Older content such as photos, documents or articles added over time may not all meet the standard yet; we correct issues as we find them.

Feedback and assistance

If you have trouble using any part of the Site, or you need information in a different format, please tell us. We welcome your feedback.

It helps to include the web address of the page, a short description of the problem, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using. We will respond within 5 business days, and while we work on a fix, we will provide the information or service you need by phone, email or another method that works for you. If you need an accommodation for an in-home visit or estimate, let us know when you contact us.
